Medicaid Eligibility Planning and Advice Lawyer - Free Initial Consultation

Many people have heard horror stories about the elderly losing all their assets when they go into a nursing home. Fortunately a lot of what people have heard is false. For example, you do not always have to wait thirty-six months to become eligible for Medicaid. With a good Medicaid eligibility planning lawyer many of the assets you have spent a lifetime accumulating can be protected from Medicaid.

Since 1992 the McMahon Law Firm has been helping people throughout the Syracuse, New York area establish Medicaid plans that protect their assets should they end up needing nursing home care.

Many people believe that Medicare and Medicaid are the same. This is not true. Every American when they reach a certain age is eligible for Medicare. Only individuals whose assets fall below a certain dollar amount qualify for Medicaid. There are many techniques that can be used to reduce a person’s asset level below the Medicaid asset limit. Some of the methods people seeking Medicaid advice are routinely offered include:

  • Setting up irrevocable living trusts
  • Making gifts to family members
  • Paying for certain approved Medicaid expenses, such as prepaid burial, items for your house, or specific types of annuity
  • Transferring your home to your child

I can help you determine the best course to make you Medicaid eligible. Then, when it becomes necessary to apply for Medicaid, my office will complete the complicated Medicaid forms. Too often people underestimate the importance of these forms. How Medicaid forms are filled out can often be the difference between being granted Medicaid benefits and not being eligible.

Once the forms are filled out, the Medicaid Department requires an interview. My office routinely presents your Medicaid application on your behalf. You do not need to appear at the Medicaid office when I am handling you case.

I believe that no one should lose their life’s savings because they need nursing home care. Thus, I offer a free initial consultation so that families can be provided answers to questions about their specific situation.

I provide Medicaid advice and Medicaid planning to clients throughout Upstate New York including Onondaga County, Cayuga County, Oswego County, Oneida County and the cities of Syracuse, Camillus, and Auburn.

If you or a member of your family needs the services of an experienced Syracuse Medicaid eligibility planning and advice lawyer, please contact Steve McMahon at the on McMahon Law Firm. I am committed to helping people protect the wealth they have spent a lifetime creating.
